The Isle of Man and Water Fluoridation

In 1986, the Manx government first proposed ‘fluoridating’ our drinking water. The matter was publicly debated and the islanders said ‘No’.

From 2003 until 2008, The Manx government made the proposal once again. Again, the matter was publicly debated and islanders voted ”No”.

In June 2023, the Manx government ignored islanders clear rejections of fluoridation and instructed Public Health to issue a Report on fluoridating our drinking water.

In January 2024, islanders started an online petition against water fluoridation which currently has over 600 signatures.

In February 2024, the Public Health Report was issued. The Report confirmed:

  • “water fluoridation is performed through the use of hexafluorosilicic acid” which is a waste product from “the manufacture of phosphate fertilisers.” pg 13

  • “consent is considered vital in relation to medical intervention…” “however, as water fluoridation operates at a population level, individual consent is not possible.“ pg 33

Despite these admissions, the Report dutifuly followed the Globalist Agenda and advised

  • “water fluoridation offers a safe and effective population level intervention” pg 21.

In March 2024, the Manx government confirmed that on water fluoridation "no … further action will be taken at this time".

Islanders have now been given a third reprieve from the hazards posed by water ‘fluoridation’. However, this reprieve may be temporary. To ensure the government do not try a fourth attempt in the future, please read this site and sign the online petition against water fluoridation. Thank you.

What Is ‘Water Fluoridation’?

What is ‘Water Fluoridation’

‘Water Fluoridation’ does NOT involve adding fluoride to our water.

‘Water Fluoridation’ involves adding Fluorosilicic acid to our water.

Fluorosilicic acid is an industrial waste product from the fertiliser industry. The United Nations classify it as Hazard Class 8 as it is corrosive to metals and tissue.

PubChem lists other uses to include a disinfectant, wood preservative, masonry and ceramic hardener and to remove mold, rust, and stains from textiles.

Fluoride science is corporate science, fluoride science is DDT science, it’s asbestos science, it’s tobacco science - it’s a racket!

1. Water Fluoridation Is Not Safe

Fluoridation Is Unsafe

Fluoridation is well proven to cause dental fluorosis in children - a discolouration of the teeth which causes embarrassment and distress.

Fluoridated water also caused severe bone disease in dialysis patients (before dialysis units filtered out the fluoride) and it can still cause dangerously high bone fluoride levels in dialysis patients and may contribute to kidney disease.

Fluoridated water is also now linked to arthritis, brain damage in children, reduced thyroid function and possibly bone cancer in adolescent males.

Water fluoridation is unproven and unpopular - the proven method is to teach children how to brush their teeth.

2. Water Fluoridation Is Not Effective

Water Fluoridation is ineffective - and unnecessary

Whilst it is proven that applying Fluoride directly to teeth reduces cavities, modern large-scale studies show no consistent or meaningful difference in the cavity rates of fluoridated and non-fluoridated areas.

I’ve read the evidence. Fluoride should NOT be added to our water - there is a lack of proven benefits and proof of harm.

In my personal opinion, the island’s water supply should NOT be fluoridated. This method of tooth decay reduction is being suggested purely to save costs and resources.
— Dr Mark Hepworth, Abbey Dental, Ballasalla, Isle of Man

3. Water Fluoridation Is Unethical

Fluoridation Is Mass Medication

Fluoridation treats the person consuming it - which means it is a drug - so fluoridating water is a form of mass medication.

The public water supply is not an appropriate place to add ANY drugs, particularly when fluoride is available for individual use in the form of toothpaste.

Should the Manx Government require Manx Utilities to fluoridate our water, legal challenge must surely follow.

Could Water Fluoridation Risk Our UNESCO Biosphere Status?

In 2016, The Isle of Man became the only entire nation to be granted prestigious biosphere status by UNESCO.

Our status ensures we are amongst world leaders in balancing the needs of people and nature, encouraging conservation and managing the environment.

Our ‘Biosphere Pledge’ commits us to protecting our natural resources, including managing water use to ensure people benefit from clean water.

It is estimated that 99% of fluoridation chemicals, which are classified as hazardous to the environment, go down the drain and into the environment.

Our unique biosphere status is due for a review for re-accreditation in 2026.

Adding it to the water supply for humans, animals and crops could put our biosphere status at risk.

Water fluoridating would surely eradicate our Biosphere standing and ruin so many eco-environment projects, eco-tourism and our reputation as a ‘clean’ environment. Our Island is unique and we must keep it this way for all the food and drink primary producers and manufacturers.

Despite the unpopularity of fluoridation and the proven health risks, the UK is moving towards enforced water fluoridation.

Please watch Conservative Peer Lord Reay opposing this move.

I have grave concerns about the risks posed by water fluoridation. High-quality evidence suggests that fluoride can damage the developing brain and reduce IQ. I conclude that water fluoridation has not been adequately researched. The practice cannot be considered safe and should not be extended throughout the country.
— Lord Reay, Conservative Peer, House of Lords December 2021

The risks of water fluoridation eloquently described by Lord Reay in the House of Lords on 7th December 2021 in a UK Parliament Speech Against Water Fluoridation. (12 mins) Transcript.

What About Pets And Livestock?

When fluoride is added to drinking water, it infiltrates everything.

Plants, processed foods and feed animals all accumulate fluoride until the so-called ‘safe’ levels in the drinking water are far exceeded.

This is especially true for kibble and processed foods.

Independent studies, including those done by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), show that many processed dog foods have excessive levels of fluoride that are as much as 2.5 times higher than ‘safe’ levels. The EWG’s report notes fluoride’s link to neurotoxicity, hormonal disruption and bone cancer. They conclude,

“This high level of fluoride exposure may well be a contributing factor to osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in dogs”.

Latest Water Fluoridation News

In the US, the most heavily fluoridated country in the world, the Environmental Protection Agency raised a landmark lawsuit in California to ban fluoride from the drinking water of 200 million Americans.

The lawsuit claims fluoridated drinking water presents an unreasonable risk to public health and can harm the developing brain of young children and babies, causing an IQ deficit.

Renowned public health experts, such as Dr. Philippe Grandjean of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, have raised concerns about fluoride neurotoxicity and questioned the safety of fluoride-contaminated drinking water.

A judgment is expected shortly.

The Environmental Health News reports that the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) released a systematic review of all published studies evaluating the potential neurotoxicity of fluoride. This comprehensive report scrutinized hundreds of human and animal studies on the impact of fluoride on brain and cognitive function. Most, but not all, of the high-quality studies evaluated fluoride concentrations that were about twice the level added to drinking water or higher. However, when considering all the evidence, their conclusion was "fluoride is presumed to be a cognitive developmental hazard to humans."

The NTP's conclusion was strengthened by a synthesis of high-quality studies showing that children who were exposed to higher amounts of fluoride during early brain development scored about 3 to 7 points lower on their IQ tests.
